4 easy steps to understand God's Will for your life.
Understanding God's Will for your life
1. The first step to understanding God's Will, plan, or purpose for your life at any given time is to wait on Him or inquire of Him. Many people make the mistake of asking for other people's opinions, or even going with the suggestions of others, without first waiting on God to see what He has to say or do about the questions they are asking. This step will save you from future ' had I known. Why not inquire of Him who knows all things.
Habakkuk 2:1I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint. (NLT)
Waiting on God will then take you to the next step.
2. Pray it through; God can reveal to you His plans and Will through prayer. It may not come fully formed, but as you wait, it starts to become clearer. Because you have the spirit of God in you, the Holy spirit can pick up signals and deep things, plans, and purposes in God's heart and reveal them to yours. 1corthians 2:10 says it: But God now unveils these profound realities to us by the Spirit. Yes, he has revealed to us his inmost heart and deepest mysteries through the Holy Spirit, who constantly explores all things. TPT
Remember the Holy Spirit is there to help you, especially in those areas where you can't help yourself. ( Rom 8:26-27)
3. The third way to understand God's Will for your life is to study His Word. I know, you may say you have been studying before now, but this is a different way of studying. Study His Word according to the particular area you want to know His Will. Maybe it's marriage, what does God's word say about marriage ( getting a spouse, children, family, etc) or it's about ministry, career, and so on. What does God's word say about them? This step is a very critical one and will answer more questions. God said something beautiful in Rom 12:2 ' Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes'
You can discern God's Will when you renew your mind with His Word.
4. There is one last step, but this is after you might have seen or known His plan for you, that step is to ACCEPT HIS WILL... It may not make sense at the time, and all odds may seem to be against you, but you have got to accept it and walk in it.
Those who trust in the Lord will never be ashamed or defeated. ( Psalm 125: 1)
